The EMS Gordin Prize is established to honor the memory of Mikhail Gordin. It will be awarded to a junior mathematician from an Eastern Europe country working in probability or dynamical systems and handed over at the 12th International Vilnius Conference on Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics and 2018 IMS Annual Meeting on Probability and Statistics which will be held July 2-6, 2018 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The award consists of the cash prize of US $4000 and travel funds, up to $1000, allowing the laureate, chosen by a committee appointed by the EMS, to attend the said conference. Nominations have to be sent to the EMS Office, , not later than on April 30, 2018.

The Organizing Committee is glad to announce that EMS Committee for European Solidarity has generously proposed some fund for young participants of the Vilnius Conference from economically less-favoured regions within the geographical area of EMS.

The support will depend on the number of applications and would cover the conference fee at least. The decision and the support transfer conditions will be communicated by April 25, 2018.
Purpose
To fund travel and possibly other expenses to present a paper or a poster at an IMS sponsored or co-sponsored meeting for those who otherwise would not be able to attend the meeting. (Note: the Travel Award cannot be used to fund any part of travel to the IMS New Researcher’s Conference, as that conference is already funded separately)
Eligibility
The travel awards are available to IMS members who are New Researchers. This means any IMS member who was awarded a PhD within the 5 years immediately preceding the year of the application deadline or who has or will receive her/his PhD in the same year as the application deadline. For one third of the total available funds, New Researchers from countries with reduced membership dues will have first priority. Applicants must be members of IMS, though joining at the time of application is allowed.
Graduate students looking for travel funds should apply for the IMS Hannan Graduate Student Travel Award.
Amount
Grants per award are typically between USD 500 and USD 1500. The actual amount of an award depends on the travel distance to the place of the meeting. Grants will be reimbursed against receipts and may be combined with other sources of funding.

To fund travel and registration to attend and possibly present a paper or a poster at an IMS sponsored or co-sponsored meeting. Presentation of a paper/poster is encouraged, but not required.
Eligibility
The travel awards are available to IMS members who are graduate students (seeking a Masters or Ph.D. degree) studying some area of statistical science or probability who have not yet received a PhD degree. Applicants must be members of IMS, though joining at the time of application is allowed.
